San Francisco City Hall is a grand building, and an administrative hub, which by day can be full of lawyers, judges, tourists, and of course, many wedding couples and their entourages. Despite this, my clients frequently ask me how it is that the building looks so empty in my photographs. I always seek to find privacy for my couples, where they can truly be connected and intimate without feeling like tourist photographers are stalking them. J and K planned an intimate elopement at City Hall, and I was determined to preserve the intimacy of the moment for them. The shoes K is wearing are the very same sneakers he wore on the day the couple met.
J and K had this to say about their experience working with me at City Hall:
Wedding season has been pretty intense lately, with lots of back to back shoots that have taken me all around the Bay Area and the wine country. San Francisco skies tend to be either grey (most of the time) or a clear blue (every once in a while). The lack of clouds usually makes for some pretty ho-hum sunsets. However, this past weekend, as seen on Instagram and in your Facebook newsfeed, the sunset was pretty amazing all over the Bay Area. Marina, Val and I snuck out to the golf course, away from the guests at their country club wedding to snag this sunset photo.
Marina and Val had something to say about my work!
I don’t have a big explanation behind this image, except to say that this indeed a photograph – not digitally altered.
I’ve long admired the Clift Hotel as one of the most intriguing and stylish spots in San Francisco. When Stella and Ilya invited me to document their wedding day at the Clift, I immediately started visualizing all the cool shots we’d take together. What I quickly realized when I arrived on the wedding day, however, was that the setting was only a small part of the story. The real story unfolded as the incredible connection between Stella and Ilya became apparent. From the first moment, at the first look, when they saw one another, they were literally inseparable. Throughout the day, Ilya would close his eyes, inhale deeply, and just absorb the reality of those moments. Stella would light up as soon as Ilya got close, gazed at her, touched her, kissed her. During the ceremony in the Clift Hotel’s Spanish Suite, the Rabbi wrapped the couple in a tallis – a Jewish prayer shawl – so tightly that they were pressed together. Their eyes were closed, and it was quite an incredible moment. I was very grateful to Erin (of Your Event By Erin), Stilya’s wedding planner, and Erica and the Clift Hotel crew, for putting together such a colorful, beautiful and seamless day.
Recently I documented Stella and Ilya’s gorgeous wedding at the chic Clift Hotel. Given total access to the hotel property, I knew exactly where I was headed with these two. The Clift Hotel Bar is one of the most unique and beautiful in San Francisco, and of course a perfect setting for a portrait with my bride and groom! More coming soon from this fabulous day!
Yesterday was a scorcher. Driving up to Brutocao Contento Vineyards, I saw 108 degrees on my dashboard! But, we survived the 100+ degree weather. After the excitement of the ceremony, and before the revelry of the evening, I shared this moment of calm with Brooke + David. More to come from this amazing day!
As part of their wedding itinerary, Corrie, Jason and I ventured to the Palace of Fine Arts – a popular San Francisco destination for wedding photography. I knew that the awesome green doors scattered around the property would make a terrific backdrop for Corrie, with her bright red lipstick and perfectly-palleted bouquet. I photograph many wedding moments at the Palace of Fine Arts, but each time I return I create something unique for my couples.
Corrie and Jason chose the Hotel Vitale to host their beautiful wedding day. San Francisco gifted them an unusually warm summer evening, and, as it turns out, when they initially booked the Vitale for their day, they had no idea about the Bay Bridge lights! As the guests danced into the evening, the couple and I snuck away for this photograph.
