At the risk of sounding cheesy, Ani and Val literally turned up the heat on what was a very very cold San Francisco day. It was so cold that after a few minutes of shooting, I was finding it hard to bend my finger and press the shutter. But you’d never know it by looking at the photos. There was so much chemistry between these two! At some point during the shoot Val managed to sneak off and buy Ani a rose. Looking back, I think it’s quite curious that I was drawn to a bright red wall towards the end of the session. Now that I look at the colors in this set, I notice that the photos started desaturated and BLUE and ended RED. Coincidence? You be the judge. I brought along a filmmaker to capture ‘behind the scenes’ footage, and I think the ‘making of’ video turned out quite interesting. Check it out! Can’t wait for the wedding on 10/01/11!

Well, it’s happened…a Rockstar Bride is almost a Rockstar Mom! Last year, I documented the beautiful wedding of Shari and John. Recently, Shari and I took advantage of the unprecedented heat wave that has settled upon San Francisco (is it October?!?) to create some beautiful maternity pictures. Shari was literally glowing, and looked just as stunning as she did on her wedding day. Pregnancy photography is an exhilarating new adventure for me, but it was easy because of the connection that Shari and I had already established at her wedding. Shari, thank you for allowing me to capture these beautiful moments! Sending you my best wishes for an easy delivery!

As soon as I arrived at City Hall to document Oliver and Heidi’s wedding, I knew the day would be special. Although it was January, SF was at the start of a several week-long heat wave. The weather couldn’t have been better. I met the couple inside the building, and as we waited for the administrative formalities, they couldn’t take their eyes off each other. Every glance, every touch was imbued with meaning. The judge pointed out that they should meet him at the Rotunda, but, seeing the beautiful afternoon light filtering through the big windows, I suggested that we conduct the ceremony on the fourth floor instead. As we ascended in the elevator, the judge lifted his binder and began, “We are gathered here…” That cracked everyone up. The real ceremony was moving and beautiful, and I was able to capture some tender moments between Heidi and Oliver. They had come from far away to get married in San Francisco, and it was perfect.

Engagement Photo of the Day

February 9, 2011

A few months left before the wedding, and Tim is already trying to escape… We had a lot of fun together at our San Francisco engagement session. Whenever possible, I always try to schedule an engagement shoot with my clients. It’s a unique opportunity for us to work together before the day of the wedding. I get to know the couple and all of their best angles and expressions, and they get a chance to see how I work and start to feel very comfortable in front of my camera. When I arrive on the wedding day, the couple has already seen my work, is convinced that I can capture them at their best (again!), and this always leads to better photographs. Needless to say, immediately after the photograph was taken, Ashley was able to bring him back down to earth!

When Jennifer, Kevin and I were preparing for our the engagement session shoot, I pitched them a few ideas. Some tame, some totally off the wall. Ultimately Kevin said, ‘we just want to show up and be our natural selves’. So, that’s what we did! We meandered down Haight Street, stopping in various nooks and shops, and also at Ploy 2, the delicious Thai restaurant where J + K had their first date. Their chemistry was just amazing – they were totally effortless, natural, comfortable with one another and in front of the camera. Thanks guys! Looking forward to the wedding in March!
